This planter is carefully hand-built by an Onishi (traditional demon roof tile artisan) from the Mikawa region of Aichi Prefecture.
The design features a demon (Oni), a symbol of protection against misfortune. The body of the pot is finished with a rugged, bold texture to match the character of the demon.<br>
It pairs beautifully with unique plants such as caudiciforms, exotic species, and cascading bonsai.
The demon face is created using a mold, so each face is uniform. The pot itself is hand-shaped without a wheel, resulting in natural irregularities and uneven surfaces.
The rim of the pot is intentionally torn and rough, giving each piece a distinctive character. These textures are not defects.
